The Leal Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Magnet program encompasses the following four disciplines: Dance, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts.

Within this program, students supplement their academic pursuits through the arts and technology. This is accomplished through comprehensive instruction, skill development and appreciation of the arts, and facilitated by the Leal staff, professional artists, community partnerships and the collaboration with professional organizations.

 

The natural talents of our students are encouraged through classroom art projects, plays, and singing. These talents are further developed through our music and dance classes and our instructional programs. Every student at Leal Elementary School dances, sings, plays an instrument, and can read music.

Technology is used as a tool for learning in all areas of the curriculum. The Leal staff is preparing students for the 21st century through the integration of technology in the four disciplines of the arts, writing and math.

Computer Lab

We have a Computer Lab Specialist that facilitates unique opportunities for students to work with our computers and other technology resources. All children in grades K-6 visit the computer lab on a regular basis to receive this enhanced instruction.

 

Arts in Motion at Leal Elementary School
A Visual and Performing Arts Magnet

Visual and Performing Arts are alive at Leal Elementary School. Our Arts In Motion Magnet School Program involves 100% of our student body. Students from all grade levels have been working with Mrs. Aniceto, and her supporting directors, to perfect their dancing, singing and performing skills. The Patriotic Musical was presented at the end of February, at the Ross Middle School Theater.  The Talent Show, directed by Mr. Johnston, Mrs. Eidem and Miss. Cham, was presented in May.
